Background

  • Moving 45 years with my husband was a good introduction to real estate transactions! From UT-Knoxville to his pilot training in Wichita Falls, TX, to exploring the gorgeous architecture (and doors!) for 3 years in Europe, returning stateside to gorgeous sunsets in New Mexico, homes with hardscapes and lush landscaping in Phoenix, then San Antonio with its clay tile roofs, Panama City with coastal themes, two-story Colonials in Williamsburg, overseas again for 3 years to Okinawa to an incredible modern home, returning stateside to Mississippi, then South Georgia with their (necessary) screened porches, and again to Virginia, to a home in Campbell County with the soothing night sounds of a mountain home, a white brick home in Forest, a Lynchburg home with a backyard designed for restoration, and finally downsizing to a Forest townhome where amenities were key drivers.
  • As the stay-at-home parent, I set up family cultural experiences. homeschooled several years, and when we built in Georgia, I took drafting and chose a plan to accommodate our weekly PE group and fellowship groups.
  • From New Mexico, I had managed our Florida rental for 2+ years, years later managed our Georgia rental (from VA for 7 years while parenting and in college myself), & managing our local rentals. Looking past the fullness of that schedule, my most cherished time was with the children driving them to their school each day and to their activities.
  • After completing a finance degree, I completed a master's in accounting and “walked” with our oldest child. Finance, accounting, and real estate have been the perfect trifecta for teaching these as an adjunct professor and advising clients as a real estate broker. Real estate has always been woven into the tapestry of my life, whether building, managing, investing, or brokering.  While other alternative investments can be profitable; real estate is the investment that builds family legacies.

    Donna moved a lot with her husband before building a home in south Georgia. She was on site daily for nearly a year. When they moved to VA, she managed the property “hands-on” several years traveling back & forth. When it was necessary to sell, she supervised the renovations to update it.
